Practice area II
Property and conveyancing
Transfers, bonds and property disputes, handled by admitted conveyancers. You get a clear timeline and a written breakdown of every cost before transfer starts.
Property transactions involve large amounts of money, strict Deeds Office procedures and several parties who all need to do their part on time. Our conveyancers keep the process moving and keep you informed at every stage.
Before a transfer starts you receive a written breakdown of every cost: our fee on the guideline tariff, Deeds Office fees, transfer duty and the other amounts you will actually pay.
What we handle
Property transfers

Sale agreement review
Reviewing an offer to purchase before you sign it, including suspensive conditions, occupation and voetstoots clauses.
Sectional title and body corporate matters
Advice on conduct rules, levies, exclusive use areas and disputes within schemes.
Leases and evictions
Commercial and residential leases, and eviction proceedings that follow the Prevention of Illegal Eviction Act correctly.
How it works
What happens, step by step.
- 01
Instruction and cost breakdown
We receive the signed offer to purchase and send you a written breakdown of all costs.
- 02
Documents and compliance
Signing of transfer documents, rates clearance, compliance certificates and bank guarantees.
- 03
Lodgement
Transfer and bond documents are lodged together at the Deeds Office once everything is in place.
- 04
Registration
Registration usually follows about eight to ten working days after lodgement, and we confirm it the same day.
Fees for this work
Conveyancing fees are calculated on the guideline tariff and depend on the purchase price. You receive the full figure, including Deeds Office fees and transfer duty, in writing before transfer starts.
Who you will work with
Questions
What clients ask us.
Who chooses the conveyancer?
The seller usually appoints the transferring attorney, while the buyer's bank appoints the bond attorney. Buyers can still ask their own attorney to review the sale agreement before they sign.
How long does a transfer take?
A typical transfer takes eight to twelve weeks from signature of the offer to purchase, depending on bond approval, clearance certificates and how quickly documents are signed.
Is transfer duty payable on every purchase?
No. SARS sets a threshold below which no transfer duty is payable, and a VAT vendor selling property usually charges VAT instead of transfer duty. We confirm which applies to your purchase.
